SUNGUDI SAREES

The famous tie and dye work of Saurashtra has travelled all the way down to the banks of Vaigai in Madurai. The highly skilled traditional craft of “Pattunool Karars” had about 15000 sunnams or dots, and each and every dot was tied and dyed. In recent times, dots are reproduced in wax-resist with the border and pallu being tied and dyed the traditional way.
